Because One Dog Changed Everything
BAUMUTT was founded by Prince (the dog), Eamonn (a professional dog trainer), and Sara.
Prince (2013–2023), who sadly lost his battle with cancer, was the inspiration behind it all. He started life as an eccentric pup and, let's just say, threw a few challenges at Eamonn and Sara, especially in the early days of their relationship. Full of energy and spirit, Prince's journey took a turn when he was attacked, leaving him fearful and reactive toward other dogs.
Determined to help Prince become a happier, more confident dog, Eamonn dove headfirst into the world of dog training. After months of reading, learning, and hands-on experience, Prince began to turn a corner, and started to realise that listening to Eamonn might actually be worthwhile.
Motivated by Prince's progress, Eamonn decided to pursue dog training professionally. While working with clients, he noticed a recurring challenge: leash pulling. Many people struggled to get their dogs to walk calmly by their side. Training could help, but it took time, patience, and consistency, and not every owner could manage that.
Working with clients and their dogs, Eamonn kept seeing the same problem. Many front-connection harnesses either restricted the dog's front leg movement or pulled up behind the front legs as the dog moved away from his owner's side, causing discomfort rather than solving the problem. It got him thinking there had to be a better way, one that helped the owner regain control, while also being more comfortable and better suited to the dog's natural biomechanics.
So, with a few basic supplies, webbing, a needle, and thread, he set out to create a harness that could help both dogs and their humans. The goal: reduce pulling, support proper training, and avoid restricting a dog's natural gait.
After countless prototypes (and more than a few needle-pricked fingers), he created a harness that really worked, one that could help dogs walk better and owners feel more in control.
At BAUMUTT, our mission is simple: identify common training challenges and design tools that help dogs and their people live happy, safe, and pain-free lives together.
Today, the BAUMUTT family has grown to include Dante, a joyful rescue from Cork DAWG (Cork Dog Action Welfare Group). Dante has jumped paws-first into product development and continues Prince's legacy by helping test and shape what we create.
Every product we make starts with real training experience, and is then shaped by careful, behaviour-led design. Our founder continues to teach group classes and one-to-one sessions, staying hands-on with the everyday challenges dog owners face, and is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and Assistance Dog Trainer through Elista Education, accredited with the Association of Professional Dog Trainers Ireland (APDT Ireland) and the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) in the UK.
If you're dealing with a dog that pulls, reacts, or struggles with confidence on walks, you're not alone. It's one of the most common challenges dog owners face, and it's the exact problem BAUMUTT was built to solve.
